The Scottish Government’s review of the Housing Marketing in Q1 of 2024 indicates that the decline in the number of sales is slowing, and mortgage approvals are starting to rise again. House prices are also growing faster than they did last year, particularly for new builds.
Mortgage rates increased slightly in March 2024, and were averaging 5.76% for 2 year fixed rates and 5.34% for 5-year fixed rates. With the Bank of England base rate static at 5.25% there is no reduction in sight at the moment.
